Creating Connected Communities is about bringing people together whether you identify as straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or any of sexuality or gender. This site has been created for you and those close to you.
Our youth are coming out and questioning their sexuality at younger ages than we are sometimes ready for, and we know young children have a firm grasp on who they are, even if it doesn’t match with their outward and assigned gender. With the fight for LGBTIQ rights at the forefront of the news, politics, and popular opinion, young people and just as importantly, their families need a safe place to discuss their experiences and explore their feelings without feeling discriminated against or alienated by their peers and community.
Creating Connected Communities is not only about our youth though. It is for everyone and is ageless. You may be coming out later in life or have left a heterosexual relationship and have children who are seeking connection with others with a shared experience or you may be wanting to chat with people who have been in a similar situation to you. Then Creating Connected Communities is for you.
With the rate of depression, anxiety disorders, and suicide attempts so much higher for those in the LGBTIQ community than their heterosexual peers, we need to provide more resources and ways for everyone to understand they are not alone, and that we are all here to learn, understand, and support each other as we figure it all out ourselves!
